Too Much Medication?

Chronic Pain

Do you know someone who is dealing with a chronic back condition or old injury that is taking too much pain medication to get through the day or to sleep at night? Unfortunately taking pain killers masks the pain and doesn’t get to the underlying cause.

For chronic users of opioids, addictive painkillers such as oxycodone, fentanyl and hydromorphone, accidental overdose death is more common than you may think.   Canadians consume more opioid drugs per capita than any other country except the United States where nationally, accidental drug overdose deaths surpassed deaths from motor vehicle accidents reaching a peak in 2011 at 16,917.

Even Ibuprofen (Advil), Naproxen (Aleve) and Celebrex classified as Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS), when used more than 6 weeks increase the chances of gastrointestinal bleeding, blood pressure problems and liver or kidney side effects.

Getting to the Cause

Chiropractic is different because it gets to the underlying cause and helps the body heal itself through improved nerve function and spinal movement. Too many people are dealing with chronic pain conditions without even having a chiropractor check their spines to see if care would make a difference in their lives. Our experience at Martin Chiropractic has shown that many of these people can get the help they so badly need to improve the quality of their lives. Please consider passing this information on when you meet someone who deals with pain daily.
